The crisis
A Waters Xevo TQ-S ion source failed in mid-pipeline. Waters quoted 26-week lead time on the replacement (legacy part). EPOCH would have had to either rebuild internally or stall the project.
The search
Our sourcing team queried 84 suppliers in 6 countries. On day 9 we found a working source unit at a private analytical lab in Melbourne that had decommissioned the same instrument.
